Dr David Daly is a seasoned Consultant Anaesthetist with 25 years of experience at the consultant level. Currently a full-time staff specialist at a major Melbourne hospital and a Senior Lecturer at Monash University, Dr Daly has extensive clinical and academic experience. His expertise in anaesthesia spans across complex areas, including cardiothoracic anaesthesia, major trauma management, interventional cardiology, interventional bronchoscopy, and gastrointestinal endoscopy, making him a leading figure in his field.
Dr Daly is highly regarded for his medico-legal expertise, having provided over 100 expert reports on serious anaesthesia incidents. These reports have focused on cases involving cerebral hypoxic injury and spinal cord injury, offering critical insights into complex anaesthetic complications. His reports are thorough, impartial, and tailored to meet the needs of both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation matters.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Daly has held significant leadership roles, including Chair of the ANZCA Cardiothoracic and Perfusion Special Interest Group (SIG), and remains an active member of its Executive Committee. He also served as the Australian representative on the Society of Cardiovascular Anaesthesiologists (SCA) International Committee and currently sits on the SCA Cardiac Transplantation Committee.
