Dr Matthew Bayfield is a highly experienced cardiothoracic surgeon practicing in Sydney at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Strathfield Private Hospital. He received training at various teaching hospitals in Sydney and completed a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, USA.
Dr Bayfield was instrumental in the early development of off-pump coronary surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery more than 20 years ago. He has performed more than 6000 heart and lung procedures, has extensive expertise in pacemaker and ICD implantations, and specialises in thoracic oncology surgery.
Currently, Dr Bayfield is engaged full-time in surgical practice, both in consultations and operations.
Additionally, he offers his expertise in medico-legal matters, providing expert opinions on causation and liability for an extended period.
