Dr Michael McEvoy

Dr McEvoy is a practising Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with 35 years of experience in clinical practice. He has delivered over 8000 babies and performed more than 5000 gynaecological procedures in public and private settings. Dr McEvoy is experienced in counselling fertility patients, offering second opinions, and has special interests in fertility preservation for oncology and transgender patients.

He has previously worked extensively in both obstetrics and gynaecology in regional, rural and metropolitan clinical practice. His special interests are patient safety and debriefing, and root cause analysis for clinicians following adverse events.

He is a medical examiner and member of the expert witness panel of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College Of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) and in the past has been chief organiser for expert witness training for both RANZCOG and the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES).

He is chairman of the South Australian Perinatal Practice Guidelines Committee, a review member for the Southern Adelaide Human Research Ethics Committee, a member of the South Australian Civil Administration Tribunal, and a member of the South Australian Maternity Neonatology and Gynaecology Community of Practice.

Dr Michael McEvoy is an experienced writer of medicolegal reports in both obstetrics and gynaecology. He has written over 400 medicolegal reports for both plaintiff and defendant law firms. Dr McEvoy is available to write factual and objective reports on patient outcomes, consent processes, hospital clinical governance and patient safety, with his prime responsibility being to the court.
