Dr Michael Rowland is a Specialist Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 30 years of practice in the field. Completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of New South Wales, Dr Rowland began his training at St Vincent’s Hospital (SVH) in Sydney and has had international training at Cambridge University’s Papworth Hospital as a Specialist Registrar.
He has experience in heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, coronary bypass surgery, heart valve surgery and is an accredited TAVI (minimally invasive valve) practitioner. He is also an active thoracic lung surgeon, treating all lung diseases including lung cancer.
He has extensive experience in medical governance, education, and training, serving for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) for many years as Chairman of the Cardiothoracic Board. He is regularly engaged in the field of medicolegal activity, and reports for the Victorian Audit of Surgical Mortality, Avant and other law firms.
Dr Rowland is able to provide reports in medicolegal cases with emphasis on medical negligence matters.
