Deirdre Richards is the principal and consulting clinician at Bayside Occupational Therapy, holding a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Hons) and Graduate Certificate in Exercise Medicine. She has practiced clinically in both Australia and the United States for more than 25 years, and additionally worked in medico-legal consulting for 15 years both nationally and internationally. Deirdre has expert witness experience in court and tribunal hearings.
Deirdre conducts medico-legal examinations related to personal injury, medical negligence, workplace and motor vehicle injuries, functional capacity assessments, Total and Permanent Disability assessments and file review opinions. Care needs assessment reports encompass past and future care, assistive technology, vehicle and home modifications and rehabilitation.
Deirdre has experience with complex orthopaedic and neurological conditions including stroke, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputations, as well as visual impairment, oncology, obstetric and gastrointestinal conditions.
She is able to provide an expert opinion and medical negligence reports across a wide range of cases throughout Australia.
